Quick Tip #11. Hydraulic Quick Connectors.

Ever have a stubborn Quick connector for a tractor loader or backhoe that just won’t go on or off? Yea, I thought so. We all have. Here’s a couple of tricks that will help.

1. Removing a QA loader from a tractor. Pull the pins and set the stabilizers as normal. Then bring the loader down and out of it’s cradle slightly more than necessary. shut the engine off. Rotate the joystick in a quick circular motion to relieve pressure from the lines. The loader will drop a little more than normal when you rotate the stick (that’s why we brought it up out of the cradles more than normal) Now the couplers will pop off easily.

2. QA backhoe removal. Adding a block under the backhoe to help support the weight will allow you to remove the pins and rotate the controls to relieve pressure here too. It will also make it much easier to reinstall later because the backhoe won’t leak down.

3. Speaking of leak downs…There have been time s where a leak down has caused so much pressure that we’ve had to A. Put on safety glasses. B. Use 2 wrenches to loosen the quick connects on the attachment to relieve the pressure. Have a drain pan handy to catch the fluid that leaks out when you have to do this.
